I'm unable to gain access to my OWA access outside of my network (from the net). Internally I can get in but once I try from the web I got the following error:

403 Forbidden - The server denies the specified Uniform Resource Locator (URL). Contact the server administrator. (12202)
Internet Security and Acceleration Server

I've followed Tom's learning zone tip on this one but I just can't get it to work.

Hi George,

Some suggestions:

1. Make sure your Destination Sets are configured correctly

2. Make sure your publishing rules are configured correctly

3. Confirm that the publishing rules are working

4. Make sure IIS is removed from the ISA Server

5. Make sure you are using only Basic Authentication

6. Do not use SSL

7. Make sure your internal network infrastructure is configured to support Web Server Publishing. Check out my How to Publish a Web Server articles at www.isaserver.org/shinder

HTH,
Tom

I've tripled checked my destination set, web publishing rule and all is what it should be. Inside my network I can access OWA no problem but when I have people try outside of my network then we get this error (please read first post for reference on the error).

weird

Hi George,

The error indicates that the publishing rule is not configured correctly or is not working correctly.

Can you give some details on how the Destination Set is configured and how the rule is configured?

Hello George!

403--URL location...Mmmm.

1) You can access from behind the firewall, correct?

2) Have you tried to access at least three diferent mailboxes of various levels? (admin, domain admin, domain user)

3) I'm eliminating permissions first. The account(s) you can access from behind ISA, can any of them access from the web?

4) Are you using a standard exchange log on path as the url? (http://www.company.com/exchange)

5) Can you hit your default web page? If you cannot, you probably missed something with ISA.

I don't think you're going to find this being an ISA issue. This will end up either IIS or Exchange...most likely Exchange since you can access behind the firewall, assuming your configurations are truly set up correctly on ISA.

Please post the results of your findings, they will better assist in the troubleshooting process. BTW, what version of Exchange?
