I've just set up OWA using Forms Based Authentication with ISA 2004 Beta 2. I've used the Solutiondocs (Outlook Web Access Server Publishing in ISA Server 2004) to set it up.

There are 2 things that i do not quite understand.

1. When you connect directly to OWA (not via ISA) and that OWA server has FBA enabled the initial language of the username/password form will vary depending on the clients browser language settings. It seems that when you use FBA via ISA2004 the language of the FBA form is always English. When you get to your real mailbox the language will be set accoriding to your browser. Will it stay this way or is this a beta issue?

2. OWA FBA on the Exchange Server itself has a compression feature. How is this feature implemented when using ISA for FBA?

Kind regards,
Berry Schreuder

Hi Berry,

The first issue should be fixed with regionalized versions by the time the full product is released.

ISA2004 now support HTTP 1.1 for proxied connections, so compression should work now.

HTH,
Tom

Hi Tom,

Glad to hear that the first problem will be taken care of. But for the second i think we misunderstand eachother. I'll try and clarify on this.

Regardless of wether ISA supports HTTP1.1 through proxy connections there is a setting on an Exchange 2003 Virtual HTTP Server which can set it to none, medium or high.

Since you need to disable forms based authentication on the Exchange Server itself according to the "Outlook Web Access Server Publishing in ISA Server 2004" documentation you also disable the compression settings.

So in my expectation this effectively gives you no compression at all.

What do you think?

Hi Berry,

OK, I get it. I think you're right.
