I finally got our company to accept the concept of using the Firewall client on our workstations, in order to get access to more Internet applications.

The first two trials are for RealPlayer and FTP to a secure site. Neither work. Everything fails just as though I had no f/w client running at all.

I have a development server setup to allow All IP traffic in the protocol rule, and allow access to all sites in the Site rule. It doesn't matter whether I config the rules to apply towards all requests, or towards specificed users/groups. I have changed the HTTP Application filter to pass traffic directly to the target web server. I have configured RP to use http only, and use my browser's http config, which is pointed to my development ISA server. RP times out.

For ftp, I am using WS_FTP client, and it times out when attempting to log onto a secure site. If I type the site url into IE, and then attempt to "Login As", I get a timeout again.

I thought that the f/w client was supposed to make this all easy, but it isn't having any effect. Can anyone please point out the obvious setting that I am overlooking? Thanks.

Hi eHainline,

For the RealPlayer problem, here are some tips from OTazMan:

used for your primary client rule and made sure protocol:
PNM - Realnetwork (Client)
PNM - Realnetwork (server) where both checked.
But the trick for me to getting it to work was in the RealPlayer configuration options!
In RealPlayer go to View / Preferences and check these settings:

Transport Tab select:
Check Use specified transports
RTSP Settings: Use HTTP Only
PNA Settings: Use HTTP Only
Check Use specific UDP Ports and enter 7070

Proxy Tab Settings select:
Uncheck Use PNA Proxy
Uncheck Use RTSP Proxy
Check No HTTP Proxy

=================

For the FTP problem, try using a different mode on the client. If you can't connect with PORT mode, try changing to PASV mode and see if that helps.
