Hello.

I use ISA Management to define my open ports. My problem is I have a number of ports which are in a row and I want them all to be open (we are taking about a hundred of ports). I have only figured out to do this secondly and that does not work. How to do this in primary so I do not have to open every single port?

For example: 20400-20499 TCP

Thanks in advance, Philip

Hello,

when you are creating a new protocol you can set the Protocol type, direction and the port range. You just need to specify the port range that you want and ISA will open this ports in a row.

Regards.

Is secondary connections the same as primary connections?

Well, I tried this once, and it didn't work. Only when I opened every single port primary (Well, I could have missed one).

Hi,

primary connections and secondary connections are diffrent! Below there is a step-by-step on how to create this port range that you want.

1- Choose to create a new protocol;
2- Set a name for this new protocol and click Next;
3- At "Primary Connection Information" click on the New button;
4- At "New/Edit Protocol Connection" choose your protocol type, direction and the port range (the port range must be in your case From 20400 To 20499) and click OK and click Next;
5- ISA ask you about secondary connections (Do you wanto to use secondary connection?), in your case you donīt want to use, so click Next and then click Finish.

I think now you can set this port range with no problems

1. Done (I have right-clicked and then choosed "New ->" "definition..."
2. Done
3. There is no New button. Only a box where i can type the number and choose what kind of port and if it's out- or inbound.

If you choose to type a number here and click on next you will be asked if you want to make secondary ports. You say no, and then it is finished.
What is the problem? Do I have an old version of the programme?
