EDIT] I'd still like your opinion on how to handle BS traffic like what is hitting my site, but I have decided to just put up with it. Well sort of. I changed the target gif to a different totally unrelated image. There were just too many IPs requesting that one image to try and block them all.

Here's the problem. Well, maybe not a problem but kind of annoying (like me).

(Long story)

Our website lists all of our past and current corporate customers and displays some of their logos. We recently noticed a HUGE increase in traffic to our site. This had our marketing person thrilled then puzzled. So when I went through the web logs I noticed that almost all of the increase in traffic was to one of the logos, specifically a well known intimate women's clothing company. I found that odd as it is just a logo, not a picture of a model or something, so I went to some of the 'referer' sites and it turns out that kids in Mexico and Poland and who knows where else found the logo on our site and are linking to the image for their MySpace pages and such.

(Question)

We changed the name of the picture, but that obviously didn't stop the referencing traffic it only prevent the logo from displaying on their page for now. Can/should I block access to our website from the IPs that are associated with those sites? Will that only serve to antagonize them? Is it a problem to block access to our website by some access rule using some sort of network set? I assume it is do-able, I just want to make sure it doesn't cause other flakey issues.

Thanks for you input on this
