I'm preparing to install a new gateway antiSPAM/Antivirus product (Symantec mail security for SMTP 5.0.1) that has the ability to scan inbound and outbound mail traffic.

The vendor states that in order to scan outbound mail on a server with a single NIC on one subnetwork I must configure an alternate port for the task (something other than port 25 used for inbound scanning).

So, there suggestion is port 26 which is OK by me accept for the fact that ISA won't know what the heck is going on unless I set it up.

We use IIS SMTP as a relay server on a seperate box that delivers mail through the ISA 2004 server using a SMTP outbound FW rule on port 25 (SMTP Server).

How can I configure ISA server to accept the mail traffic on port 26 and translate it to port 25 so it's delivered to the Internet host? Can I use the same rule and edit the port settings? I don't see a port translation seting in this firewall rule.

You can edit the mail server publish rule and on the traffic tab on ports you can set there something else than the defaul 25 port for the firewall or for the publish server
