Is it possible for ISA 2006 Standard Edition to support PPPOE and framed-routes?

I have setup an ADSL2+ modem to run on bridged mode.

I use the PPPOE client on Server 2003 to connect. I get the standard single IP address 123.243.10.x address assinged to the PPP adapter.

I can't figure out what interface I'm meant to bind my new allocated Ip address to.

My modem is set to 10.1.1.1 on the internal LAN side.
The ISA server has a 10.1.1.3 on the netwok interface that plugs into the ADSL modem.

I've read that I'm meant to put one of my allocated IP addresses to the ISA server, so have bound the secondary IP address as 60.241.139.y.

If I connect on another machine to a different ISP, I can't seem to route to 60.241.139.y. I can get to the original 123.243.10.x address okay.

Has anybody setup something similar on Windows 2003 / ISA 2006? Any pointers or tips?

Hi Jimbo,

Put a NAT device that does PPPoE for you in front of the ISA Firewall. That's the standard solution.

However, what exactly isn't working for you? Do you have a static IP address from your ISP?

ISA does not use PPPoE,...the Windows OS does.

PPPoE is a "dialup" technology and has to be configured as a "Dialup Network Connection" in the Windows OS.

Then you tell ISA to use the Dialup connection you created as the outbound connection that it is supposed to use.

Expect it to be undependable and manical to deal with. That is the way PPPoE is.

Tom's suggestion is better,...to use an appliance with multiple WAN ports.
