I just had another shot at the 7 part branch office VPN guide after initially having problems. This time everything is working great and all 7 parts have completed sucessfully.

I tried a completely different approach this time - I did all 7 parts with all the servers at the same physical location and the WAN ports of the ISA servers connected via a 10/100 switch and the LAN ports of the branch office servres connected with a cross over cable. Once everything was working, I then went into the CSS and changed the VPN type at both sites to PPTP.

Everything was still working so I then changed the connection IP addresses for each VPN to the public internet addresses (instead of the private addresses in the DMZ). I then took the branch office servers to the branch office, fired them up, and everything was still working. Fantastic. I would have left the VPN type as L2TP but I don't think our routers fully support L2TP pass through.

Now I just need to know when Part 8 of the series is coming, as I need to get DNS sorted on the branch office!!
