Hello,

i got a small problem, some users in my company are using other users passwords to connect to internet. Is there a way to avoid this (instead of using a user for authentification using a computer group instead for the webg proxy for example ?).

We are using IE6 last version, prompt in IE for password is disabled. ISA 2004 is SP2.

Thanks for your help

Cedric

What does that mean?
In ISA, change the authentication from basic to integrated.
If you wnat to block internet for certain computers, use DHCP reservations to fix their IP and then create a computer set and put it in a deny rule.

Yes, that's happen to my office too.
Iam using a rule that allowing connection from specific computer and the conditional is that user.
But iam still confuse.
If i change the authentication to integrated (basic authentication was disabled), are the client still asked to prompt the password ?

The short answer is "that depends".
If the client PC is joined to the same domain as ISA and the user is logged on that domain, there should not be any authentication prompts with integrated only authentication.

YMMV

Iam activating integrated and basic authentication, then my clients always asked for password every times they go to sites.

Hi

I am quite new to ISA Server 2004 how do you configure isa so that users have to type in username and password to access the net- as curently i am trying to set up a group policy i.e. certain users can only do certain tasks on the net but i can not get the users system to work.

You can setup the authentication at ISA network configuration.
Authentication can be used when the user is web proxy or firewall client only.
And you must creating rules on firewall policy.

Hi shanyuen

Sorry dont really understand what you meant by setup authentication on ISA network configuration

I have linked ISA with ur Active directory but still when i create groups it does not work in that a user from that group can not use the net

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/isa/2000/deploy/isaad.mspx

You need to creating access rule in ISA firewall policy.
And go to Configuration > Network then rightclick your internal network > properties > web proxy
Click authentication button to choose the method.

Hi

Im not sure if you know the anwser to this but do you know how to integrate Active directory with ISA(thus i can set permissions for internet access) -as i have read whats on the link but with ISA 2004 im not entirely sure how it is done.

I have set my server as a domain controller and installed ISA 2004 however i still can not set users up properly.

You asking about how to configure isa so that users have to type in username and password to access the net isn't ?
Don't talk about active directory first, are you already success if you creating local user and user connecting with that user ?
That's would be many explanations if you doesn't know how to setup web proxy or firewall client and how to authenticate it.

Hi

Basically what i am trying to do is set users permissions based on their login. So for example i can set a certain user to only view certain sites on the net.

At present i have ISA server installed on a Domain controller, with the setting i can see users on AD on ISA and then set permissions. But for some reason the permissions do not work.

I now have read that ISA should not be installed on an Domain Controller, if this is the case how would ISA be linked to AD and see users.

By joining ISA to the domain.

Hi

I have joined ISa server to the domain and i can see the domain now. However when creating group policies and then implementing a firewall access rule. It does not work, however i do not get any error messages just can not access the net.

I am using the 120 day trial version of ISA on a Win 2003 Server as a web proxy. I would not think this feature would be disabled. Any suggestion where i could be going wrong. I have looked at other web links and as far as i know i am doing everything correct.

many thanks for all help in advance
