Hi;

I have a question concerning the ISA Gatekeeper. I have setup the Gatekeeper on our ISA 2000 Server. We are using the ISA for Proxy services not for Firewall services. The ISA is actually on our InternetDMZ. We use CheckPoint Firewalls.

Our security policy is such that we only allow outbound access to the Internet if it's Proxied. So all our web browsing is proxied and we would like to also proxy any external Video Conferencing across the Internet.

We have a couple of Polycom iPower 9000 systems and I managed to set it up to use the Gatekeeper and I can connect out through the Internet to a remote site. They can see and hear me but I cannot see nor hear them.

When I try to connect, I see the CheckPoint Firewall rejecting my Polycom trying to hit the remote site using ports like 3230, 3231, etc...

I was under the impression that the ISA Gatekeeper was like an H323 Proxy. I thought that all conferencing traffic would funnel through the ISA. But then I see the Polycom trying to go direct to the remote site.

One of my colleagues says that, "The gatekeeper has three main modes; Direct Signaling Mode, Gatekeeper Routed Signaling and Full Proxy Mode." He says that, "By default most gatekeepers run in Routed Signaling Mode, where only the RAS channel and signaling is proxied
through the gatekeeper and RTP continues to go direct from point to point, bypassing the gatekeeper."

So my question is this... "Is there a mode on the ISA Gatekeeper that will place the gatekeeper in Full Proxy mode (RAS, Signaling and RTP all go through the gatekeeper and never
peer to peer)" ???

Is there an ISA expert in the house? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Paul
