I am able to successfully connect to ISA2004/VPN and authenticate. I am able to utilize all network services, but only when i use windows 2003 server as the connecting client.
If I try this from win2k Pro or WinXP Pro I get the following error. Also I have installed the NAT-t patch on my winxp machines. Error 678: The remote computer did not respond.
Anyone seen this behavior before?

Hi Man,
Have you tried PPTP? That will help determine if its a VPN issue or a certificate issue.
Thanks! Tom

Ok I am configuring ISA to allow PPTP connections now. I will post my results.

Can you double-check that 818043 is listed in the Add/Remove Programs list of updates installed? I've had people tell me that it was listed in the updates to install on the client and when they selected to install all of the updates, this one didn't get loaded.
Also check the version of ipsec.sys on the WinXP client. Make sure it jives with the version listed in the article here.

looks like I am fine in that regard clintd. But I have noticed a little weirdness with trying to use the ipsec security monitor. I have the watchguard vpn client loaded and am going to rebuild my test machine to remove this issue from my testing.

Hi Man,
Whack the Watchguard VPN client and use the MS VPN client. Then check the L2TP/IPSec connection. Are you behind a NAT device?
Thanks! Tom

Hi MMan,
The updated L2TP/IPSec client has IPSec (IETF too, not some proprietary hack) passthrough. So, it should work fine through the ISA firewall.
HTH, Tom

Ok I have it working omg MUAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAAHA.
I would just like to thank all the fans for all there support.
Wow..I now have the l2tp/IPSec client working on XP against an ISA2004/VPN server, which authenticates usiing EAP certs against an internal RADIUS server.
Thanks for everyones help. Now I will begin praying that my upgrade to ISA2004 RC once it releases does not break it all, ahha.
