Following is my LAN:

PC1
external ip 80.44.50.3
|
|
external ip 80.44.50.1
ROUTER
|
|
external ip 80.44.50.2
ISA
Internal ip 172.20.18.1
|
|
SWITCH_____________________
|                                                        |
|                                                        |
Internal ip 172.20.18.2                    Internal ip 172.20.18.3
PC2                                                Printer

Printer is behind the ISA server. Printer is directly connected to the switch and has assigned ip address of 172.20.18.3.

In PC2 i have installed printer as a local printer on standard tcp/ip port. Printing is working perfectly in this pc.

In ISA Server i have:
(I have followed the steps from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306071)
- created a protocol  Inbound TCP 9100 as port.
- created server publishing rule to allow the above protocol from EXTERNAL network to the Printer IP.

Now i would like to print from PC1.
In PC1 i went to add printers
Select Local Printer
Create Standard TCP/IP Port & entered IP Add of ISA Server (80.44.50.2)
Then i got message box: The Device is not found in the network.

I will be grateful if someone please guide me whether im following right procedure or not. And how can i install printer in PC1.

Hi,

I'm a very newbie but I think that becasue your PC1 and the printer are not in the same IP range you will not be able to find the printer. You should create a VPN connection to the ISA, then you will be able to print through VPN.

Can you add the printer on pc2 machine?
What you see on ISA logs when you’re trying to add the printer on PC1?

One more thing, the PC1 and ISA external interface seems to be on the same subnet or the subnet is different for those. I don’t get the role of the router if not
