I'm attempting to publish an internal Postfix server. On the former firewall, it was a simple matter of poking a hole for port 25 through to the appropriate internal server; this configuration works. Attempting to do the same basic configuration with ISA 2004 isn't working.

If I use a generic publishing rule, the incoming connection never establishes.

If I use the SMTP publishing rule with the SMTP filter activated, the connection is accepted but the internal mail server banner is never displayed and the connection times out.

If I disable the STMP filter (which I would *like* to do; Postfix is extremely thorough about buffer checks), we go back to the behavior of the connection never establishing.

What am I missing?

Figured out my own solution. Once I changed the internal host to use the ISA server as the gateway, it all started working.

I blame too little sleep and being up too late. [Smile]

Hi Devin,

good to hear you have solved the problem yourself! [Smile]

Whenever you server publish an internal server it should be configured as a SecureNAT client unless you have implemented http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;311777 .

Thanks,
Stefaan

Hi Stefaan,

ISA 2004 allows you to choose between full and half NAT by selecting the option in the Server Publishing Rule.

HTH,
Tom
