Hi,

I'm currently trying to publish one of our Virtual Servers for testing purpose.
The problem is that I can't seem to make it work using a path name different from the original one.

Original path: VirtualServer (http://mybox/VirtualServer/VSWebApp.exe?view=1)
External path: VS_Test (http://www.companyname.com/VS_Test/VSWebApp.exe?view=1)

The page itself loads, but images and css fail since they are linked to http://www.companyname.com/VirtualServer/...

Hope anyone can help since this is a real pain in the a..

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

Hi Jarod,

Try a split DNS entry using a HOSTS file so that you have the same name on the TO and PUBLIC NAME tabs.

HTH,
Tom

I'm not sure I understand your advice.
My problem is that I can't get Virtual Server to use the path (VS_Test) I've created in the "Path"-tab of my publishing rule.
How is this related to DNS ?

Have you tried a Link Translation rule to translate http://internalserver/virtualserver to http://externalname/vs_test?

Hi Kevin,

Got it. Why do you need to change the path?

Thanks!
Tom

By changing you mean from "VirtualServer" to "VS_Test" ?
Well, at this moment there is only one Virtual Server to be published, but it's likely that in the near future at least one more will come.
Is publishing a Virtual Server via ISA such a "strange" thing ? It seems to be, since I could hardly find anything about it.

Hi Jarod,

Can't say. I use VMware so I've never tried to do it.

I don't even know what protocols are required.

The only thing that's trage is the way you're doing it (converting the paths from /virtualserver to /vs_test. I've got my Virtual Server published through ISa with no problems, but I'm not doing this conversion.

As I mentioned earlier, I must convert the path since there will be more Virtual Servers coming.

I was only answering your question, not commenting on the wisdom of your choice.

Did you try the Link Translation rules?

Hi Clint,

Are you using a Web or Server publishing rule?

What protocols are required?

Thanks!
Tom

You  have to do both a Web Pub Rule and a Server Pub Rule - a la the TSAC website. One Web Pub Rule for the downloading of the ActiveX control and management of the virtual server components and a Server Pub Rule for TCP Inbound 5900 for the VNC component.
