Hi, after installing my new Isa 2004 I succesfully published several websites but now publishing any other server seems to be impossible! "[Frown]"

I'm behind a single firewall with two NICs (one public IP address) and I do not understand why my servers are unreachable from the Internet (the same servers are easily published with my "old" Isa 2k!).

1 - The internal Network includes only the ip range of my internal netw.

2 - The configuration is the "post-installation" one, I didn't apply any relevant change, excluding having enabled some application/web filter (FTP, OWA...)

3 - I tried to publish a DNS Server, a FTP Server and a SMTP Server but the result is always the same: timeout! I cannot even establish a connection using telnet. I'm not a ISA "newbie" but I can't really understand what is goimg wrong.

There is a mistake (or maybe more than one) I can't find out... help!

I was forgetting one thing: I noticed that I can't reach any of my servers from the ISA itself too. If I try to open a telnet connection from the ISA to the ftp server (f.i. telnet> open 192.XXX.X.25 21), I receive an error and the connection can't be established.

Hi Fede,

Are the published servers SecureNAT clients?

Do you see any errors in the "Alerts" tab?

Thanks!
Tom

You need to create a rule that allows Local Host FTP access to the internal network to do that. I don't think that's included automatically in the post-install configuration.

Also, check your 'Networks' setup and make sure all your private addresses are included in internal network (including x.x.x.0 and x.x.x.255) and that External network includes only public interface.

First of all, thanks to everybody.

The published servers aren't Snat clients... but they should, right? It could be the possible solution?

The Alerts tab doesn't show any error.

Tomorrow I'll test the new ideas you gave me, including theone from Bunshaw.

About the LAT (Thanks Senad [Smile] ), I think is correctly configured, 'cause I can ping the other servers and I can reach their network shares.
However LAT already includes my privates addresses and the network and broadcast address.

Hey guys,

Just a quick reminder that there is no more LAT in ISA 2004. That's how we achieve the multinetworking features.

Thanks!

Hi Fede

I too am having this same stress! For some reason, I rock up to work one morning and find that my ISA 2004 is no longer listening on port 25. It just vanished! I re-installed Windows 2003 fresh, installed a fresh copy of ISA, configured nothing else but the bare essentials and then tried publishing my mail server again. Still no luck! I even tried publishing a different service (SQL Server) and again, no luck. It's like the server publishing just dropped off the planet! Did you have any luck finding a resolution? I ended up having to install SMTP Server in IIS and relay mail to my mail server (as a workaround).
