Hello All!

We have a bunch of printers that are managed by VendPrint (this is an app that sits on a W2K or XP Pro workstation and monitors print queues). How do I configure ISA If I want users from a perimeter network to print to this VendPrint station? Are there grave risks in doing this?

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the reply.

It's basically a shared print queue on a desktop. The user connects to this shared printer and sends print jobs which are intercepted and handled by VendPrint. My questions are: 1- How to publish a shared printer on a desktop to another network through ISA? 2- Is this a very dangerous thing to do? (and how to reduce the risk). To answer your question, the protocol is I guess which ever one used to communicate with a desktop in order to print.

Hi Paul,

Is this using Windows Printer sharing, or is this a TCP/IP printer? Is it a print server ?

Hi Tom,

The client machines connect to the print queues through Windows Printer Sharing. The network where these client machines are located is somewhat secured from the wild Internet but I have no control over them which is why I don't want to just open up the machine that hosts the queues.
