Hey everyone.

I want to roll out the firewall client for all my users so I can take advantage of using groups and users for very strong access rules.

Right now, I have rolled out the firewall client to two computers for testing and so far, works well.

However, I am having a problem when accessing services on ports other than 80 or 443. Some of our vendor websites run services on higher ports (8443 for example) and every time I try and to access it, I get a error message like below:

Network Access Message: The page cannot be displayed
Technical Information (for Support personnel)

* Error Code: 502 Proxy Error. The specified Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) port is not allowed. ISA Server is not configured to allow SSL requests from this port. Most Web browsers use port 443 for SSL requests. (12204)
* IP Address: 192.168.100.1
* Date: 10/25/2005 10:13:57 PM
* Server: isasrv04.xxxxxxx.local
* Source: proxy

Obviously, I need to setup some type of configuration for the firewall client, but haven't been able to figure this one out.

Anyone have any ideas and help?

You need to set up custom rules on ISA if a web site wants to use a non-standard port for HTTPS (or any other pre-defined protocol). The pre-configured protocol definitions only allow the standard ports.
