Hi Tom,
I can't seem to get the RPC publishing to work on a Win2003 server/ISA 2004, any tricks? Can it be done?
OWA Publishing is working fine.
The the Exchange 5.5 box is in a NT4.0 Domain.
Thanks,
Keith
BTW Great site, and I've got your book ISA Server and Beyond. (VMware is working out quite well)
But this ISA 2004 looks quite cool, so I'm trying it out.

Hi Keith,
Might be a name resolution issue. Is it working for you when you publish with ISA2000?
Thanks for getting the book!
Tom

Hi Tom,
Thanks for getting back.
I have the external mail.domain.com DNS resolved to External IF of ISA server. I have the internal mail.domain.com DNS resolved to the Exchange box (mail).
Outlook ver. 2000 9.0.0.2711
One problem, my test Exchange box had to be reformated and put into production. I'll build up another. I'll keep you posted.
Thanks,

Hi Keith,
In the external domain, can the Outlook machine resolve the NetBIOS name of the Exchange Server to the external address on the ISA firewall?
Thanks! Tom

Hi Tom,
Do you mean "mail" to the external IF? I've will try this tomorrow.
Another couple questions. (Fellow members please feel free to comment) Are companys actually using this RPC Publishing for Exchange 5.5 really successfully? What sort of end user issues will I have to work out. I've read that some ISP's have blocked some ports that screw this up, is this still happening.
Cheers,
Keith

Hi Keith,
Yes, the client needs to be able to correctly qualify "mail" to "mail.domain.com" and then resolve "mail.domain.com" to the external address on the ISA firewall.
I haven't used 5.5, but have plenty of people using 2000 and 2003 with excellent results. I depend on it as my primary method of access when the dopey ISP haven't shut down TCP 135.
HTH, Tom
