In reading some info to try and help myself I inadvertently psoted this message in the ISA 2000 board...(sorry!)
I have recently done a server rebuild due to problems after changing isp's (the external adapter doesn't like being changed with ISA 2000)
I am having some similar problems with RPC over HTTP now that I have ISA2004 installed.
Unfortunately budgetry requirements enable me to have only one SBS2003 premium server to do everything (ISA, IIS, Exchange etc...)
I have previously had OWA and RPC over HTTP working in this single server environment (with ISA 2000) by following the relevent documents found on the web....
I have had major problems getting OWA to work but have found a work around by tunneling SSL requests through to IIS (where they are authenticated) I realise bridging is better but I can't work out a way to publish a cert to both IIS and ISA when they are located on the same server... Can this be done?
Anyway OWA is working and RPC behaves correctly when tested via a webpage (ie enter username/password three times and get appropriate error) Outlook client has same settings and cert has been imported into trusted on client pc.
Outlook accepts username/password but will not connect outlook to exchange. Naturally it works fine if I connect to my VPN
If I put a different Domain/Password - outlook comes back and asks again so I can assume its authenticating.... Any clues anyone?

Hi Matty,
Did you use the Wizards? It should work automatically.
Thanks! Tom

I don't believe there is a wizard that sets this up for you especially not in a single sbs server environment.
I have actually solved the problem.... I had all the certificates and everything sorted correctly and it was authenticating.
A search of event viewer showed an RPC proxy start up error and a problem with the port config for 6001-6002 & 6004
Whilst I thought I had this configured correctly I read an article relating to the use of capitals (that you shouldn't use them) as well as a microsoft article that explained how the Netbios and FQDN worked. I used the ipconfig /all command - adjusted the registry settings and booyah! everything was up and running like it used to a few weeks ago....
My only concern is that I have an SSL tunnel in ISA for both OWA and RCP over HTTP...(instead of a bridge) From what I have read there is no getting around this without an additional server (it seems that you can't publish a certificate for IIS and ISA on the same PC) Clarification of this would be appreciated so that I know I have made it as secure as it can be with the hardware/software available to me.
Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt,
You can create two Web Publishing Rules, one for OWA, and one for RPC/HTTP -- but that requires that you have two IP addresses bound to the external interface.
If you do that, then it'll work. Otherwise, you'll have to use SSL+Basic auth for both OWA and RPC/HTTP.
HTH, Tom

Hi Matty,
There is indeed a wizard that will setup owa and rpc over http for you in SBS. It is called the CEICW and you run it from the admin console, look for a link called "Connect to the Internet" when you run that and answer the questions it will setup all the rules for you.

Hi Andy,
Thanks! I wasn't sure if the CEICW configured RPC/HTTP.
Thanks! Tom
