Hi,
how do I configure ISA to allow me to use remote desktop connection to any server in my private network?
I've added listener/virtual address on the corporatenet. I'm not sure if I need a packet filter, protocol rule, and how I publish.
Anybody?

Thanks

Hi pdiddy,

basically you have two options: use a VPN connection or a server publishing rule for each individual internal host. It should be clear that using a VPN connection is the best and most secure solution.

For more info how to implement a VPN solution, check out http://www.isaserver.org/articles/isa2000vpndeploymentkit.html .

For the server publishing method:
- create an RDP Server protocol definition for TCP port 3389 inbound.
- make sure that the internal host is configured as a SecureNAT client only. So, no Firewall client installed unless you have implemented http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;311777 .
- create for each internal host you want to publish a server publishing rule with as mapped server protocol the above created protocol definition. Keep in mind that each server publishing rule must use a different external IP address.

HTH,
Stefaan
