Hi all,

I hope to be at the right place here in the "Whishlist-section". (If you tell me that I'm wrong because this already works, I would be happy too)

I want to operate an IPBX with SIP links behind ISA. My problems are:
- lack of STUN support
- huge udp port ranges that have to be forwarded to the IPBX
- no packet filter for SIP traffic

Question:

How can I make SIP devices (either "normal" SIP Phones oder IPBX Servers) work behind ISA Server?

btw.: Tom, i read your articles about Collective Software's LCS bridge, but this seems to be working only with LCS and is not applicable to "normal" SIP traffic. At least I didn't manage to configure it in a working way...

Hi Richard,

The problem is that there is no "normal" SIP traffic -- each vendor implements the protocol somewhat differently, which makes it very difficult to create an intelligent firewall application layer gateway to support the protocol. There is work ongoing to define the protocol better so that we don't get the situation we have with VPN (IPSec for remote access VPN connections is a great example of how the industry fragmented in order to lock out competitors).
