I have setup Inbound/Outbound relaying using the following guide: http://www.isaserver.org/articles/2004smtprelayinoutisa.html

ISA 2006 External Interface 172.16.100.77 (in DMZ real
address 206.191.101.27)
ISA 2006 Internal Interface 10.1.0.77
Exchange 2007 Server 10.1.0.79

The outbound email is flowing without any problems. However inbound email is not making it to the exchange server. If I telnet from the outside to he External interface of the ISA box I connect and then am immediatley disconnected. In the ISA log I see an Initiated Connection via the SMTP Relay Publishing Rule. In the SMTP Server current sessions I see a session which eventually times out.

Note: If I configure a server publishing rule to publish the Exchange 2007 Server for Incoming email, with use ISA server address enabled, (with the rules from the article disabled) incoming mail flows without any problems.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Is the SMTP server a SecureNAT client?
