Hey guys,

A month or two ago I changed the normal routing & remote access on a 2003 R2 server to ISA 2006.

The office mail server is an exchange 2007 SP1 (and all updates) server on a server 2008 64 bit server.

I got a forward rule that just forwards port 25 TCP from the outside to the internal exchange server.
However this rule can just stop working for no reason.
I used the ip address of the server in the rule. When I telnet to port 25 from the ISA box to the Exchange server I do get the normal reply. So the Exchange server really is up. Internal mails also work, it's just not accessible from the outside !

When I simply reboot the ISA server everything is ok again without further actions.

This happens every few days, which is very annoying !

Any ideas what may cause this ?

Does ISA trigger any alerts before communication starts to fail? What service packs are you running for ISA and Windows Server 2003 R2?
