I have an internal client behind ISA in dual FW/Proxy mode. Intially configured a client as SNAT. Never was able to use MS Messenger or Yahoo Net2Phone successfully. Tried all the built in Net2Phone protocols, and even opened up ports as Yahoo website calle for. So I decided to install the FW client. I can still surf the web (did'nt change a thing in the browser settings), but none of the Voice over IP apps work. That must mean, the client is now truly a FW client, but that the ISA Firewall is still blocking some the required TCP and UDP ports. I guess? My research shows that voice apps won't work behind a Proxy, so by installing the FW client software, does that take ISA Proxy out of the loop?

Hi KD, Some voice apps work behind the proxy. All of our colloboration with Martin Grasdal during the writing of the book was done using NetMeeting for audio/video conferencing. All Net2phone works fine for making calls through their PSTN gateway. I've used it several times for that. I've also used the MS IM'er's version of IP to PSTN voice app and that works well too. However, I've never tested the computer to computer voice scenario, since you don't need it with the H.323 Gateway and NetMeeting. Hi KD, Here is a helpful post from the mailing list: for file transfers with the MSN-Messenger, you need scondary connections on Ports 6891-6900 TCP inbound and outbound. Also you must change the Firewall Client properties on the the ISA: "Application Settings" new entry. APP: msmgs; Key: NameResolutionForLocalHost; Value: P ->->->->-> Hi Tom, yes, create Apps entry on ISA-Server - Clients - Application Settings Apps: msmsgs Key: NameResolutionForLocalHost Value: P and the secondary ports 6891-6900 TCP in/out are necessary for file transfer.
