Hi,
I use IIS SMTP to be SMTP gateway on ISA 2004, and install Message Screener on ISA Server. Between these days I find out folder under ôc:\inetpub\mailroot\queueö will exist some *.EML files. I open them and find out that these emailsÆ domain is correct, but reception is not correct.
I think that the SPAM Email sends to my SMTP gateway, then relay to Exchange server, but Exchange server reject it. But why queue in my SMTP gateway?
Can anyone help me to solve this? Thank you very much for your help!

I use ISA2004 + IIS SMTP to be my email relay gateway. All email will forward to my Exchange server 2003.
When email incoming to my IIS SMTP, then it will forward to my Exchange server. And if this email is not valid, such as aaa@mydomain.com or bbb@mydomain.com, then IIS SMTP should reject them. But I find out that these email will queue in my IIS SMTP folder (inetpub\mailroot\queue).
I guess that because IIS SMTP want forward to Exchange server, but Exchange server reject them. And them IIS SMTP want reject them, too. But it canÆt because its all SPAM sender.
I think these SPAM emails that IIS SMTP should not let them coming. But its still happened. I donÆt know its because my ISA setup not correct or something else.
Does anyone have same situation like me? Or my method is not correct?

Hi,
I still can't solve my problem. I think maybe its because my network problem such as too slow... etc. Now I schedule a script run every 1 hour to delete .eml in queue folder. Maybe its not a best solution, but until now its helpful to me.
Thanks.

Hi There, I think you may have selected the option to hold the emails rather than deleting them or forwarding to another email address. Have a look at the web filter settings and i think it allows you to do three things 1) Delete the message, 2) Forward to another address or 3) Hold the email message. In your case you may want to choose delete. See if this helps. This suggestion is by a friend of my and credit goes to him. Ashok.

Hi Come2, Are you using a remote domain for the inbound relay? All mail not matching the remote domain should go not be forwarded. However, it will end up in the badmail folder and will need to be cleared out using a script. HTH, Tom
