Hi

We have a couple of ISA2004 Enterprise servers for which we want to change the logging defaults. While MSDE is currently used for logging, we would like to start using SQL Server instead (mostly because we will use 3rd party reporting tools that need SQL Server).

Before we start implementing we need an answer on two questions:

Does ISA2004 support logging to SQL Server 2005? We did not find a MS article talking about ISA2004 and SQL2005
Can we install SQL Server locally onto the ISA2004 servers (next to MSDE or even better, replacing it)? The servers are powerful enough and we don't want to buy new hardware for this

Can someone give advice on this?

Update: we did perform the change and everything did work. Only remaining problem is the removal of MSDE: once the MSSQL$MSFW service is stopped, we can not use ISA Server's advanced logging anymore (even though all log entries are written in the local SQL Server databases). Does someone know why ISA Server still needs MSDE to be running to perform queries against SQL Server?
