Today i installed ISA server 2004.
Everything went fine.

I noticed that SQL service manager is installed??

And also i have to say that i don't like the ISA server 2004 interface! But that's my personal opinion ;-))

Regards,

Rob

Hi Rob,

ISA can log to MSDE, that's why the icon is there.

Most people really like the new interface!

Thanks!
Tom

Hi Tom,

i know that ISA can put the logs in sql server or mysql.
Is it safe to run MSDE or SQL server on a firewall?

I will play some more with isa 2004 when i get the change so i can get some more experience with the interface. [Cool]

Hi Rob,

Is it safe? Just try accessing them if you don't have authorization to do so [Smile] You won't get in.

HTH,
Tom

So Tom, Is this the reason I cna't start or stop the MSDE service? I thouht it was weird that MSDE did not look like it was running and did not have a name when I passed the cursor over the icon in the system tray, but ISA manager says MSDE is running and working properly. Thought this may be related to the issues I posted in my new to ISA post, but now maybe not.

Thanks for the heads up.
