We're setting up a new ISA 2004 server to provide a secure SSL connection into our webmail (iNotes) server. I've created the server publishing rule, set up the listener and taken care of the certificates - that seems to be ok. When I access the URL, the browser asks if I want to accept the cert (which is fine), then displays the login screen with encryption enabled. When I try to log in, I get a warning about being redirected to a connection that is not secure (I'm using SSL to HTTP bridging). I click OK, and the process stalls.
Now here's the good bit - if I leave the browser for long enough, it comes up with a standard "Page cannot be displayed" error ("The gateway has lost the connection with the Web site you are trying to access."). If I click back (to the login screen) then forward again, it opens up my mailbox and everything works fine.
The ISA monitoring shows a lot of Initiated/Closed/Denied connections, originating from the client and going to the ISA server, port 443/HTTPS. There is no rule mentioned. I'm presuming that they are the reason for the odd timeout thing, but I can't eliminate them. I've tried adding various rules for ports 80/443 incoming and outgoing but to no avail.
I'd be grateful if anyone can make any suggestions where I'm going wrong.

Hi FE,
Is it working for SSL to SSL bridging?
Thanks! Tom

Hi Tom,
I was trying to avoid the extra complexity involved with that as we don't think it's necessary in our situation. However, I'll maybe give it a shot and see if it makes any difference.
Thanks for your response.

Well it now appears to be working, but I'm afraid I don't know what triggered the change. I did clean up all the static routes on the server and redefined the internal network, which may have helped. Nothing involved was on anything undefined though.
I had presumed that the "redirected to a connection that is not secure" browser message was a by-product of the ssl to http bridging, but that has also disappeared despite the bridging mode being the same.
Thanks anyway Tom for your input.
