We have School Guardian Web filter that we just purchased, and want redirect port 80 to it through the ISA server. Currently I have web chaining set up to do this, but I have to setup the web browser proxy settings to point to the ISA server. The problem is that when we're using "Automatic Configuration" to configure IE, IE will consider the web filter as a bad proxy if we go to a blocked site multiple times and then we can't surf any web sties. We can by pass this problem by either setting the proxy settings manually, or turn of bad proxy caching, but there is not an easy way to do this with the large number of computers we have. Group policies would work, but we have a few hundred computers that are not in the domain yet. So is there a way to redirect just the web traffic without having to configure the web browser?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

let me see if I get it. You want to your clients connect to ISA using the port 80 instead of port 8080? If so, you can change the port that ISA listen the webproxy connections.

Paulo Oliveira.

We use the school guardian server as our proxy and set an "allow all http traffic to from internal to external" rule on the ISA box.  We then set the proxy settings of the School Guardian Box in group policy to force students only through the school guardian box as their proxy/web filter server.  It works perfect for us, probably too well as there are many complaints about excessive blocking but you can never win with this in Education unfortunately.

PM me if you like and we can get in touch to discuss.
