Hello all,

We've deployed an ISA Server 2006 Array on our Internal network to protect some of our servers and to provide load balancing for some web sites.

We've just migrated our SharePoint servers behind the array but are experiencing a few problems.

One of our SharePoint app servers has the job of doing a search index crawl on our SharePoint farm, it also has been set to crawl through our main web site which is still sat on the other side of the ISA.

When we tried running a crawl on our main web site, after a few minutes ISA blocks the connections with result code 0xc0040037 FWX_E_TCP_RATE_QUOTA_EXCEEDED_DROPPED. I assumed that the flood mitigation settings had kicked in, so I added the app server to the IP Exception list and increased the custom limit.

Unfortunately ISA kept blocking the connections and we kept getting the same result code. In the end I decided to turn off the flood mitigation feature but ISA still continued to block connections and we still got the same old result code.

So at the moment I'm at a bit of a loss and not sure where else to look and was hoping somebody here had any pointers?

Regards,

Sion

P.S. Please excuse any incorrect terminology/assumptions related to SharePoint as I am not overly familiar with it!

That error is specifically linked to Flood Mitigation, so I too am confused that you receive the same problem after disabling the feature.

Where are the website and SharePoint servers in realtion to ISA e.g. which element is on the External inteface facing side of ISA?

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the reply. All the Sharepoint servers sit on the 'Internal' network and the our main web site is sat on the 'External' network.

I rebooted both isa servers in the array last night as a last resort, the SharePoint admin also rebuilt one of the app servers as well as they were experincing some other problems.

Crawling seems to be working this morning and I don't get any of these FWX_E_TCP_RATE_QUOTA_EXCEEDED_DROPPED in ISA anymore!

I'm not sure if the reboot finally turned off the flood mitigation feature o'r if there was a problem with SharePoint, which in turn activated the flood mitigation, but has now been fixed by the app server rebuild.

I'll monitor for the connection for the next day or so to make sure.

Regards,

Sion
