Hi, I've been trying to troubleshoot this issue for quite a while now, have read a lot of articles and posts on this website and others, and just can't figure it out...
So, I have a need to run an XPSP2 system as a SecureNAT client here. Most of our systems run the firewall client.
We use RPC over HTTP for Outlook2k3 to access a hosted Exchange service outside the network.
I have been unable to get a SecureNAT client to connect successfully to the RPC Proxy for our hosted Exchange with Outlook 2k3 (OWA works fine on this and other SecureNAT systems, like Macs). If I start Outlook with /rpcdiag I just see status "connecting" pretty much forever. I can put the same system on a separate network (i.e., w/ no ISA) and shutoff the firewall client and RPC over HTTP works like a charm.
Does anyone run a setup like this and if so have you run into similar issues?
One other thing I forgot to mention... I can connect to the hosted Exchange server as a firewall client, then disable the firewall client, and use RPC over HTTP as a SecureNAT client until I close Outlook and need to reconnect. It is only the initial connection/authentication that doesn't seem to work.
At the risk on engaging in a monologue here... it seems I am able to remain connected as a SecureNAT client sending/receiving mail after initiall connecting as a firewall client for an indeterminate amount of time (I think on the order of 1 or 2 hours) until Outlook wants to reauthenticate or something, at which poing I have to close Outlook, reenable the firewall client, and reconnect to Exchange.
