Hi All,

I need to setup and publish a secure FTP server and I’m looking for recommendations on server software. I have looked at RhinoSoft’s Serv-U and GlobalSCAPE’s secure FTP server. I will publishing through ISA 2004.

Any recommendations are greatly appreciated.

Have you considered using Windows 2003 web folders combined with web publishing?

This gives a very secure 'FTP like' option and clients can either use the web browser interface or choose the "file, open, open as web folder" option to get the view in explorer format.

The advantage to this approach is that you get all the benefits of FTP like upload, download, access control etc, but also get all the ISA web publishing benefits like pre-authentication, SSL bridging, HTTP filtering, web proxy filter, user level control etc.

Done it a few times now for customers looking at secure FTP solutiuons who already have ISA and it works very nicely!

The key to me is ISA pre-auth and HTTP filtering...

Sounds like a good subject for an article!
