Hello,

We have Exhange 2007 server with ISA 2006 and want to be able to give iphone users the ability to use imap to get their emails. We have configured imap to receive emails fine on the iphone on port 993 but cannot let them send. We have created a rule to allow connection from external to the mail server on port 587 and have configured client received connector to authenticate exchange users on port 587 as well. I checked the ISA logs and it keeps showing "denied connection destination port 587 unidentified IP traffice (tcp: 587) denied connection default rule." I have moved the allow 587 from external to mail server to the very top but still no luck. Has anybody came across this problem before? Your help is much appreciated!!!!

You need to:

Create a Protocol Definition for TCP port 587 Inbound

Create a Server Publishing Rule using that Protocol Definition.

Tom

Hi Dr. Shinder,

Thanks for your response. I have tried that and now when I check the logs, I keep seeing initiated connection 587 and then closed connection 587. Finally, I will see 6 or 7 denied connection and nothing in the rule field but it says unidentified ip traffic (tcp:587) in the protocol field. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
EN

If it say that it was unidentified, then the Protocol Definitition might not be correct. Double check the configuration of the Protocol Definition and the Server Publishing Rule. You can use the Exchange Server Publishing Wizard to make it easier, actually.

Make sure your ISA Firewall has SP1 installed.

HTH,
Tom
