I have a unique software package that we run for student management the allow the staff and parents access via a web browser. It runs as a service on the internal server and is configured by giving it an ip address and each service is published on port 4040 and 4080 respectively. I can access it internally from a web brower by typing x.x.x.x:4040 or 4080. I created a port rule in ISA 2004 for these ports, and created a publishing rule the points an external ip address at the internal ip address on the ports listed. all I get no matter where I try is the following:
Error Code 10061: Connection refused
Background: The server you are attempting to access has refused the connection with the gateway. This usually results from trying to connect to a service that is inactive on the server.
Date: 10/10/2005 11:36:17 PM
Server: gateway.selectops.net
Source: Remote server

The server listed here is another ISA server at a remote location away from this one. I even try at home on my DSL and can't access it.

The publishing rule is a server publishing rule with a protocol that opens ports 4040 and 4080. It takes requests from 216.xxx.xxx.xxx and forwards them the 10.x.x.x on that port.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Johnny,

What are the exact details of the rules? It could be a name resolution issue, but without the exact details, its impossible to know.

Tom
