Hi Every!

I made some test, and i successfully published an SQL Server 2000 placed on a machine behind the ISA machine, by using the Server Publishing Rule.

However, i have a question:

How can i publish a service that is NOT listed in the server publishing rules...?

For example: if i install a program that listen on port 3333 of my internal server, i would need to:

1) Open port 3333 on the ISA machine
2) Bind the port 3333 of the ISA to the port 3333 of the internal server.

Is that possible to do that...?

And if it's possible, HOW to make it ?

Hi Danny,

isn't that a long time ago we saw each other on this board?

The solution is to create a custom protocol definition with the direction inbound (or receive send) for the primary connection. You can then use this custom protocol definition in a server publishing rule. So, in your case it looks that the protocol definition should be: TCP port 3333 inbound.

LoL Stefaan, you got such a great memory

Actually it has been longtime but you know what they says:

"sometimes they come back"

Thank you for the hint, and by the way the server publishing rule open the port on the ISA machine, so no need to create any packet filter for that port, right...?

Hi Danny,

correct! The packet filter will be dynamically created by ISA server.

BTW --- make sure your internal server is configured as a SecureNAT client unless you have implemented http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;311777.

HTH,
Stefaan
