Hi

I'm a newbie on ISA, and on the first day after installation I have encountered a problem that I have no idea how to solve.

After restarting the server on which ISA is installed I'm unable to start ISA Server Management.

I end up with error code 0x8007203a and the message: "The server is not operational".

ISA is installed on a Server 2003. It has got three NIC: One external and two internal networks. The server is part of the domain of one of the internal networks. In this network it's a second/backup Domain Controller.

The computer consultant that has installed the server is not expert on ISA, so he might have done some stupid things. But how do I get on from here?

By the way, it's ISA 2006 Enterprise ed. running as edge firewall and cache.

Hi

Just make sure that "SERVER" and "ISASTGCTRL" services on ISA machine are running or not. If not then first start them and then try agian.
And also check domain controller is reachable from ur ISA machine or not.

Thank you!

The ISASTGCTRL-service is not running. When I try to start it, I get this message:

"Could not start the ISASTGCRTL service on local computer"
Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure.

What does that mean?

Hi

log off 'n' agian log in 'n' then try.
have u changed the password?
i think this problem is related to log in credentials only. just check for that.

Oh, thank you very much! Now I'm back on the track

The last thing we did before restarting the ISA server after installing and configuring was to change the administrator password in the domain. Now I have changed back the administrator password to the old one, and everything is in order.

But how do I change the password in a way that will make the ISA server management accept the change?

Hi

At the time of configuration we provide the user log in credentials to connect to particular CSS.
So If u want to change the domain password then u have to change the password for connecting to CSS also.
Is ISA Server management is opening (without showing any information) properly?
If yes then click on "connect to CSS" and then provide the user credentials with changed password.

It also sounds like you are using the domain administrator account for the ISASTGCTRL service. Not a good idea, I would look into setting up a seperate service account for this within the domain with the required credentials (low privilged account).
