I cant get my Exchange 5.5 published adn neither my intranet server. They both used to have a NAT entry in our firewall (whish will be replaced by ISA), but we cant get them accessed from outside. I tried the wizard for the mail and the documents for the webserver, but no luck. I am using RC1, is ther any newer ones out?

Hi Jsnyman and Mir4of7, Publishing an Exchange 5.5 Server is EASY, the wizard does all the work. But, you have to make sure that you have your DNS situation handled correctly. The best way to approach DNS is to have an internal DNS server that's configured to forward requests for internet hosts to an external DNS server, such as your ISPs DNS Server. Make sure the Exchange Server is set up as a SecureNAT client. That's about it. I published an Exchange 5.5 today, as a matter of fact. It took about 5 minutes to get everything running. Make sure your IMS is configured correctly, and that's about it! HTH, Tom ------------------ Tom Shinder http://www.isaserver.org/shinder/

First, make sure that you are using the proper wizard. Selecting "Configure a Server Publishing Rule" from the taskpad is not the same wizard as right-clicking "Server Publishing Rules" and selecting "Secure Mail Server". Second, make sure that you have a protocol rule that allows DNS Queries from your DNS Server outbound. This will be UDP Port 53 NOT TCP Port 53. The predefined "DNS Query" object works quite well.

I almost forgot. If you are not using the registered IP of your ISA box to publish the mail server make sure you add the additional ip address to the external interface using the advanced tab of network properties so that the box can properly "ARP Proxy" and answer requests to that IP address. ------------------ Jeff Tabian Senior Network Analyst - MCSE+I, MCT, MCDBA, CNE, CCNA, CCA Sentinel Technologies

Hi Jeff, You bring up an important point. One of the first things you should do it disable the taskpad view, and change to the "Advanced" view. The taskpad view tends to muddy up the interface, and makes it difficult to see your current configuration. Thanks! Thanks a lot for the help. It looks like this worked, but my OWA doesn't. Dont you think that this is because its RC1?

Hi Jsnyman, You have to make sure you have a destination set that includes: /public/* /exchngweb/* /exchange/* I'm not so sure about the second one, but its close to that. You can confirm by looking at our web proxy logs. HTH, Tom ------------------ Tom Shinder http://www.isaserver.org/shinder/
