Hello All, I apologize in advance for my naivete. I am a totally un-schooled self-taught Sysadmin/User on our small office network, SBS 2003 SP1 Premium w/ 9 clients, mixed wired & wireless. I started learning on NT 4.0 in 1999. I successfully built the SBS server (dual Opteron, RAID 1 & RAID 5 arrays) and converted the network to SBS2003 single-handedly last year. I have been steering towards my goal of a web-accessible network but it is difficult as my 'real job' is demanding and it is hard to find the time. My net topology is: Internet--->Cable Modem (Dynamic IP)--->D-link 804HV VPN/Router--->External NIC--->SBS2003 SP1 (DHCP server)--->Internal NIC--->Gigabit Switch--->Wired Clients (Win 2x & XP)& WAP For my next modification I will be installing ISA 2004 from the SP1 media set (I have been told I do not need to install from the original pre-SP1 media). I have documentation on doing the ISA installation on SBS, running the CEICW, opening correct ports etc. What I can not find proper documentation for is what happens on the clients...my questions: 1) Will the clients need modification after installing ISA on the server? 2) Does SBS push the software to the clients or will I need to insert the ISA CD and load each? 3) How much time should I allow for the process? VERY simple setup, no OWA, no VPNs (yet), just a file server with clients. Clients currently download POP3 emails locally and store in Exchange Mailboxes. Thanks for your patience and help. My network is behaving splendidly now and I want to try and find every possible knowledge source I can before modifying anything. Tony

Tony, Your getting closer to a fully functional SBS server all the time. Congratulations! The ISA install it pretty simple. It take about 15-20 minutes. At the end of the installation the connect to the Internet wizard will launch. You'll pretty much stay with same settings you've used in the past except be sure to select Enable Firewall. This will cause the installation of the SBS rules in ISA. Here you'll have the option via simple checkbox to say whether you want to allow OWA, RWW and other web features of SBS. The ISA installation will create a folder on your server called mspclnt. This folder contains the firewall client. You'll want to install this software to each workstation. SBS won't do it automatically. Though you can add it to the client apps if you want to. Finally make sure you workstations have the server LAN IP address as their gateway address.

Thanks Amy. So, after ISA is installed, I will logon to the domain from each workstation, navigate to the mspclnt folder, and find the executable inside? All clients NICs point to the SBS internal NIC already. I am just afraid of not being able to connect to the domain once ISA is installed. Tony

Right, the executible will be inside that folder. Select Manual for the ISA server detection and put the name of your SBS server into that box. So long as the worstation gateway points at the SBS server you'll be able to log into the domain.
