I'm doing a proof-of-concept for our execs to include ISA 2006 on our DMZ for publishing an internal Sharepoint server. Using the guides for the beta here, I setup a Unihosted ISA 2006 machine with both ISA and SharePoint machines on our internal LAN. From there the only way I could access the SP site from the ISA machine was to create a firewall rule allowing all outbound traffic (limiting to just HTTP, HTTPS, and HTTPS Server would not work). Now I can access the site from the ISA machine. When I add the server via the publishing wizard, it appears to create the rule properly. However when I point my web browser to the ISA machine I get "Error Code: 403 Forbidden. ISA Server is configured to block HTTP requests that require authentication. (12250)". Is this an issue with the listener? To say that I am unfamiliar with ISA would be an understatement. I briefly setup and administered an old (original) ISA box, but haven't used it since. If I could be so bold could I request one of your awesome tutorials for setting up a SharePoint publishing scenario?

Hi P, I've got a SharePoint tutorial on the list so that should be coming soon. Maybe we can get things moving now on your deployment. What is the IP addressing information on the ISA Firewall's internal and external interfaces? Thanks! Tom

Wonderful, I look forward to being tutored! The machine is currently unihosted, with the internal network defined in ISA as 0.0.0.1-126.255.255.255, 128.0.0.0 - 255.255.255.254, which was the default definition when I used the Single Network Adapter template. The interface has a static IP of 10.24.20.50, and the SharePoint server I'm trying to publish is 10.24.20.51. S/N is 255.255.0.0. Also, I have DNS entries for both machines, and they can resolve and ping each other.

ACK!!!! You need to fully deploy that ISA firewall to get adequate security. The article will be based on the front-end firewall configuration. All article I do are based on firewall configuration, because of the unique lack of security the unihomed "hork mode" configuration provides. Tom

This is just a proof of concept. We already have an existing full firewall deployment. The final deployment will have this box on the DMZ, with its sole purpose being to publish the internal Sharepoint server. I was using unihomed based off of your existing ISA 2006 tutorials.
