Hi All;

Can anyone tell me the Switches needed to do a Truly SILENT Firewall Client Install? In fact, any switches for the setup would be nice. Eg one to set the client not to show the System Tray Icon would be handy.

Thanks.

well, I'm new to the game but there is a checkbox where you can hide the firewall client in the systemtray but it will become visibile in the taskbar if the ISA server is down (like if you reboot it). Maybe youy should tell your client that having the software installed gives them more access to the Internet (which is true in my setup).

Thanks for that, but I'd like to set the options during the Setup so I don't have to check that box on every persons PC (the less things visible for my users to fiddle with the better in my books!) Still no luck with the Silent Setup?

"Deploying groups of Firewall clients
You can use the Windows 2000 Software Installation snap-in to centrally manage distribution of Firewall Client software. You distribute and configure the client software of Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server to groups of computers so that all users who require the applications automatically have the application on their desktops. The administrator or the technical personnel do not have to set up the application on each desktop.

When you assign an application to computers, the application is installed the next time the computer restarts.

For more information, see the Windows 2000 Help."

===========================================

To run unattended client installation

At a command prompt, type
Path\Setup /v " /qn "

where Path is the path to the shared Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server client installation files. These files are usually located in a folder on the ISA Server computer with the share name ISA\MSPclnt.
Notes

To run unattended uninstall, type the following at a command prompt:
MsiExec.exe /X {8C7A59A8-9ABE-459A-9A93-08C281A4A264} /qn
