Hello boys and girls,
I'm wondering if you guys could help me with an exchange 2007 placement. We're building a new network from scracth, and would like some 2nd opinions .

Looking at the picture (URL), you can see our current planned network infrastructure. The internal LAN, DMZ, placement of ISA servers, webserver(s) and Exchange-Edge Server. As you can see, we're running a virtual environment .

We dont want to spend too much money on Microsoft Exchange licenses, we already have planned for 2, one edge-transport and one back-end.

Having security and best pratices in mind, where would be the best place to put our CAS (Exchange 2007 role; Client Access Server). Should we put all four "back-end” roles on one server, and publish the server, or should we put CAS somewhere else... maybe in the DMZ, or on a seperate server on the internal LAN?

Sadly, we havent had time to read the 500+ page Exchange 2007 unleashed.

If you need me to explain more, please say so. Looking forward for your opinions...

Each of the ISAs have 4 ethernet port each.
