I have a web server hosting a web service.  On that machine I have installed a cert for the web site.  I then configured the website to require a client cert.  I then installed a user cert on my client machine.  Without ISA I am able to hit the webstite from the client no problem.

Now, I tried to set up a new ISA web publishing access rule.  In the process of creating the listener I was prompted for a certificate.  I am not sure what ISA needs a certificate for, I just want to essentially port forward.

My question, can someone explain, or point me to an explaination of setting up mutual auth with ISA?  Or, is there a simpler way to just open up port 543 (ssl port) on isa?

Different application, but look at the web publishing rules in this article as SCCM uses mutual auth in exactly the way you need:

Shout if you need help...

Web publishing is much more secure that server publishing, but this is always an alternative (if less secure) if you cannot get web publishing working...

Cheers
