I have installed ISA 2004 on a dual ethernet HP DL380, I disabled the nic teaming and one nic so that during the installation of ISA 2004 it would be a chache only server. I noticed the firewall service was running, and then applied the single nic template. Is there a single definitive way to determine if the machine is a cache only server? From KB articles it states that even in the single nic template mode the isa server protects itself from the internal network. Would this mean that the firewall service would still run to enable this protection. Dr. Shindler I'm looking for you to answer this one...can't find anything in your book relating to this specific question. Many thanks in advance to all those who reply

Hi,

If you use ISA Server 2004 as Caching Server only, you did not used ISA's great firewall capabilities. Put a second NIC card for you to experience the greatness of ISA Server.
