Sorry to ask this in an ISA forum (and if it just gets deleted I completely understand, yep- i'm asking for forgiveness here) but if you can help that'd be great.

Let me start with, I don't have an ISA firewall and don't necessarily intend to get one but I have used and configured them on SBS machines when I was consulting, hence my familiarity with this site.
What I do have is Windows 2003 server configured as a VPN server at my corporate HQ.  I also have a firewall at the perimiter of my corporate HQ.  What I'm trying to do is setup a new small branch office with 2-5 users initially, and I want that branch office to have VPN access to HQ.  I could just place a router at the remote site and let the individual machines (and therefore users) establish their own VPN connections.  This is OK, but I'd much rather have an appliance that will work with Windows 2003 VPN in a site to site solution.  Once again, I could place another Windows server at the remote site, but that's a very expensive solution and I'd rather not incur the cost and management overhead associated with this scenario.  Do you know of any VPN appliances that work with Windows VPN in this scenario?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
DML

Hi DML,

It's cool to ask those kind of questions here, this is the OT section of the site

I've used the Dreytek and they work pretty good. I wouldn't waste any dough on a Cisco type solution. Netopia boxes aren't too bad either, but its been a couple of years since I've set one of those up.

HTH,
Tom

Hi,

i know you don't want high costs but ISA is COOL!!!! Network engines also have a device that you could use but it does cost more.

Thanks for the reply.  I was actually hoping to use a product I've heard of before .  I saw that you wrote an artlce on how to make a site to site VPN between a Cisco? product and an ISA 2006 server.  I think I know that there is nothing special about the ISA server in this solution (meaning ISA is really only using RRAS VPNs and setup is a bit easier) but I guess I'm not sure.  And all this isn't to say I want to use Cisco.  I just am more comfortable with a solution I've heard of before.

In sum - never heard of Dreytek, had very bad experiences with Netopia in the past, any others?

Thanks for the input,
DML
