Hi I have a mixture of win 2k, NT, 95 and 98 clients using a combination of winsock proxy client and firewall clients. In the old days of ms proxy 2 (winsock server) connections to the server, especially for pop and smtp took less than 2 seconds. Now using ISA the same connection takes about 30 seconds. This is clearly a problem! all users are logged into the domain and trusts exists between the isa server domain and the working domain, just as in the proxy 2 days. Once connected it works no problem its just that inital 30 second delay. BTW you will have to wait that 30 seconds every time to check for mail, not only the first time. Hope someone can help. Thanks

Hi JP, This is definitely not normal! I wonder if perhaps its a name resolution issue? Is the Firewall client software configured to use the name or the IP address of the ISA Server? Are you running an internal DNS server or WINS? Thanks! Tom ------------------ Tom Shinder http://www.isaserver.org/shinder/ Get It Here

Hi All clients are currently using names rather than IP address. I am just now installing microsoft DNS ready for the great convertion to win 2k. I suspect we have a conflict here. I will check out both my wins and dns servers and get back to you. Thanks

Hi Tom, Thanks for the reply. The win 2k converstion is still in the testing stage. testing however is going really well. I was concrned by the introduction of AD but after studying for the AD MCP I feel its the best thing yet! JP
