The overview of the problem that I am having here is slow download speeds through ISA 2004 SP3 on Windows server 2003 R2 standard edition SP2. We are on a 10Mb line here. I have tested the speed from speedtest.net and over our ISPs backbone as well. From speedtest.net, I pull 733 kb/s down and 8029 kb/s up.  When we did the test over our ISP's backbone, we set it for a 9Mb test since we didn't want to max out the line. We were able to pull 9Mb down from that test. If I plug in directly to the switch, thus bypassing ISA, I get roughly 8k up and down from speedtest.net. For this reason, I have narrowed it down to the ISA itself. I have monitored the system resources during testing, and havent seen any indication that the cpu, memory or nics are being maxed. I have tried downloading large files from the internet directly to the ISA and to client behind the ISA and speed is the same. I have transfered large files off the isa by to the lan by opening a share and copying the file to my machine. This resulted in expected transfer speed. For this reason, I don't think that it is LAN traffic that is slowing down our download speed.

This is in an edge firewall configuration.

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks.

May have found the issue. The NIC is running half duplex. Going to try updating the driver tonight and switching to full duplex.

Also check that the switch ports are configured for the same speed/duplex settings...

Cheers
