We have at work a network of 40 computers, 1 Windows 2003 R2 server which is a domain controller. We have one computer ready to be a second domain controller that’s it. We want to install ISA server 2006 standard edition, but I read that it's not good to install it on a domain controller. Do I really need to install it on a computer alone?? Any advice will be appreciated. Also if anyone knows about some good step by step installation and configuration guides or books for ISA 2006… all I can find are 2004.

Thanks.

Never install ISA on a DC !!

the best method is to make it a domain Member , read this : http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/Debunking-Myth-that-ISA-Firewall-Should-Not-Domain-Member.html

Tom's book : http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1931836191/wwwshindernet-20 is a great start although it is for ISA 2004 ( 90% if not more is the same for ISA 2006 ) , and check also the articles in this site , both together are the ultimate source for ISA Server
