Hi!

I'm in a situation where a customer is having a bunch of networks where they have Websites, and they want to bypass proxy for these networks. My recommendation was to make sure they use a common DNS suffix for these internal webpages, to easliy specify when to bypass proxy and when not to.

I tried just for the fun of it to specify an IP range in the "Web browser" tab under the properties for internal network. This didn't work. I guess this is because the clients use dns names like my.network.com and not typing an IP address when they are connecting to the website.

No firewall clients are used, just WPAD and automatic configuration with ISA.
I would like to get this verified.

My question is:
If I specify an IP range of sites a client should connect to directly, will this only work if clients type an IP address when trying to connect? Is there a setting (i guess this would be in Internet Explorer) to make the client to resolve the hostname and check if the IP address should be accessed directly?

Hi,

you will need to use the *.example.com/* format for Direct Access

check this for more info http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920715 , which works perfectly for ISA Server 2006 as well.
