I'm a bit confused with the implementation of a Split-DNS infrastructure? If I have an authoritative DNS server in my DMZ segment for mydomain.com and an authoritative DNS on the LAN segment for the same domain.com (internal clients only), then how do requests that are sent to user@mydomain.com recieve the mail on the Internal Exchange Server? My External DNS server doesn't have an entry for server.mydomain.com 10.0.0.3 because this would have an internal server entry in my external DNS.
Maybe I am thinking about it wrong???

Hi B,

Yes, you're not understanding how a split DNS works.

You have the SAME NAMES in the internal and external zone. The IP addresses are different.

Check out:
http://www.isaserver.org/tutorials/2004illegaltldsplitdns.html

While the focus in that article when you're using illegal TLDs, the principles are the same.

HTH,
Tom
