I've just set up a split DNS as per the link from Toms recent SBS article, it works a charm. Thanks Tom!

Hello Tom & Kevin, I would also like to setup a split DNS Domain on my SBS 2003 while I am implementing Tom's 4 part CEICW series on SBS 2003 SP 1.
Are you referring to Tom's article 'You Need a Split DNS' or another article on split DNS setup?
Thanks,
Eddie

Hi Eddie,
The best approach for setting up a split DNS for SBS environments is to use the methods described in the the article on how to implement a split DNS when you have an illegal TLD (like .local, .lan, .idontcare, etc).
HTH, Tom

Thanks Tom for your reply,
I did use your article 'You need a Split DNS' to setup my SBS 2003 internal & external DNS servers. However, I did not setup the default illegal domain extension when I installed SBS 2003. Instead I used .com domain extension for both the internal & external DNS servers. I understand that this complicates matters for the split DNS setup. I will wait until you publish your next article covering this subject before I continue setup. I have only installed the 4 SBS 2003 disk on both my SBS 2003 servers. I will continue installing disk # 5 and SBS 2003 SP1 on both SBS 2003 servers once I have installed the DNS servers correctly. My two registered domains with network solutions are www.lefilesconsultingservice.com and www.crm.lefilesconsultingservice.com. I followed through CEICW setup the same as you did in your 4 part SBS 2003 SP-1 series except I enabled the firewall instead of disabling it.
I have entered 'A' records for both my external domains in my external DNS server with network solutions. At this point I have not looked at how the internal DNS server setup during installation of the SBS 2003. I used 2 NIC cards for each of my two SBS 2003 servers and am now unabled to get on the enternet from both servers. On each server, I am able to ping both the external NIC address and the gateway addresses on each server. I am unable to ping both the router LAN and WAN addresses. On each router, I setup port forwarding for all the ports that I am going to be using.
I have both your ISA 2000 and ISA 2004 books. I enjoy reading your writings. Both have been very helpful to me. I am halfway through the ISA 2004 book, but there is still much that I do not understand about ISA 2004.
I look forward to hearing your comments on the mistakes that I must have made during the installation and setup of both the internal & external DNS servers for my two SBS 2003 servers.
Are you aware of any issues with installing MSCRM 1.2 server on a SBS 2003 server using SBS 2003 SP1 with ISA 2004?
Best Regards,
Eddie LeFiles
